Visit to Mim Çelik and TİS companies

Prof. Dr. Turan Karabörk, a faculty member of the Department of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Aksaray University (ASÜ), visited Mim Çelik and TİS companies operating in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara together with his undergraduate and graduate students whom he supervises. Mim Çelik has reached an annual turnover of 50 million USD and provides employment to 600 people, standing as one of the leading companies in the sector. TİS (Technological Isolator Systems), established as a subsidiary of Mim Çelik, produces seismic isolators and dampers for the first time in Türkiye and carries out their sales and on-site installation, achieving an annual turnover of 20 million USD.

During the visit, information was obtained about the production processes of seismic isolators and dampers. Ideas were developed regarding potential joint projects and studies aimed at improving the earthquake performance of these systems. In 2026, Aksaray University was selected by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) as a specialized university in the field of “Materials.” Within this scope, it is aimed to contribute concretely to the university–industry collaboration concept by developing high value-added products through joint studies.
